How to Install Zoom Client on Ubuntu 17.10 | 18.04

Zoom is a video communication platform tool where users can schedule and join meeting via video calls, and it is also provide remote control technical support. It is cross-platform video communication tool that is works for Windows, Android, Mac and Linux systems.

Zoom client is not a open source software tool. if you want to a video conference call or scheduling a Zoom meeting, then you will need to install the Zoom software. It is offers the best video, audio quality, and screen sharing experience across all Zoom Rooms.

So let’s start to installing Zoom client on Ubuntu, Follow these below steps to get Zoom for Linux install

There are two method for installing Zoom using Command Line Interface and GUI Interface.

For fastest installation of Zoom, use the Ubuntu terminal( Command Line interface)

Method 1: Install Zoom Client via Ubuntu Terminals

First of all press Ctrl + Alt + T on your system keyboard to open or launch the ubuntu command line terminal.

Then run the commands below to install Zoom :

wget -O Downloads/zoom.deb https://zoom.us/client/latest/zoom_amd64.deb
sudo apt update
sudo apt install ~/Downloads/zoom.deb

Now accept packages that are want to be installed. so type y for Yes and continue the installation.

Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information… Done
Note, selecting 'zoom' instead of '/home/richard/Downloads/zoom.deb'
The following additional packages will be installed:
libegl1-mesa libgl1-mesa-glx libxcb-xtest0
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libegl1-mesa libgl1-mesa-glx libxcb-xtest0 zoom
0 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove and 12 not upgraded.
Need to get 16.7 kB/41.5 MB of archives.
After this operation, 155 MB of additional disk space will be used.

That’s it!

Now Zoom is installed in your system so you can Enjoy Zoom. For Start Zoom, go to Dashboard activities and start Zoom Client

Method 2: Install Zoom Client via GUI Interface

If you don’t comfortable with command line interface and it is hard for you to type command then you can go for via GUI Interface.

Follow the steps below for download and install Zoom Client using GUI Interface:

First of all open your browser then open below link for download Zoom, and follow option as below image.

Now Click on the Download button to save in the Downloads folder of your Home directory of system.

After complete downloading, go to your Downloads folder, then right click on the downloaded file and then select Open With Software Install option.

When Software opens, click the Install button to start the installation.

After click on install you should type and confirm your password before the installation process continue. When you are done, Zoom will be installed and ready to use.

For Start Zoom, go to Dashboard activities and locate Zoom and then start Zoom it.
